Wrap Up Post

This is my last blog post for Toes to Go. Through this course I have learned a lot about social media and personal branding. Within social media I have learned how to create and navigate around blogs, podcasts, LinkedIn, YouTube, and RSS feeds. These social media tools provide platforms for me to further my personal brand. I can use these social media sites to promote my brand and spread the word about Toes To Go in a professional manner.

I would like to have the opportunity to learn more about LinkedIn. LinkedIn is the social media site that I was the least familiar with coming into this class. I am still not very good at navigating around LinkedIn, but I hope to get more acquainted with it because I see it as a very useful tool in social networking. I think it can provide a lot of opportunity in the workforce in terms of jobs, promotions, and even meeting new people.

The social media platforms that I will make more use of moving forward are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Professional Social Media

Social Media is used everywhere around us in the world today and I think it can be very beneficial in the professional world, if used correctly. I have seen many cases where social media accounts are not conducted in a professional manner and as a result they hurt business more that they help. In creating my professional profiles on various sites I have approached the process with a few things I was looking to accomplish.  First, in order for a professional social media account to be effective I think that you must always separate your professional and personal world. A lot of videos, posts, pictures on an individuals posts are not appropriate in the professional world. Secondly, you must make sure that you are using the most effective platform for your desired audience. It doesn’t matter how professional your social media account may be if your audience is not viewing the site. The last thing that I use when creating a professional social media account is to include adequate information. Individual that view these platforms are potential customers and they must be able to gain knowledge on your business. For example, contact information, what the business is, where it is located, etc are all things that should be included in a professional social media site in order to effectively promote a business.

The social media site that is extremely effective to promote a business is LinkedIn.  LinkedIn allows a business to connect with other businesses within the industry. some groups that I have included in my networking are CNDc, OPI, Nail Pro, Salon Strategies, and Nail Corner.

Blog Post 3

I have chosen YouTube as my video platform to share my brand campaign. YouTube provides the largest audience and therefore enables my videos to get the most amount of views. I chose this particular vlogger because she effectively demonstrates how salon style and services can be done within an individual’s home. She brings to life the meaning of “a traveling nail service providing in home care at salon quality.” This video allows our viewers and potential customers to see what services we offer and hopefully gain more interest!

Blog Post 2

I use my blog to reach out and provide information to clients. However, in order to promote my blog in the most prominent way it is beneficial to enter the blogosphere – a platform where authors of blogs interlink to share and comment on each others blogs to promote their topics and area of interest. Using the blogosphere is a great asset to promote my service and serves as a great source of networking. I have found 5 blogs that are useful in creating my brand strategy. These blogs contain current news within the salon industry as well as up and coming products. In addition, there is also information and pictures on current trends to nail care and styles. The authors have provided pictures and individuals have replied with comments and reviews. Here are the links to the blogs that I found most beneficial to Toes To Go and our brand strategy:

Blog Post 1

Hello Everyone! This is a little introduction of who I am and why I am here. I am Sami Meyer, 2o years old from St. Louis and currently studying at Columbia College in Columbia, MO. I am doing this blog for my Social Media class and this is my first blog post, as I am very unfamiliar with blogging, so please bare with me.

I came up with the idea of Toes To Go after my grandmother was pretty much homebound due to her skin cancer for many years before she passed away. I think it is difficult to understand what being stuck in your house, day in and day out, is like until you see it first hand. However, nobody understands the struggle more than the individuals that are actually stuck in their homes. Given that, if they are unable to leave, I thought that there had to be a way to bring a little bit of joy to them!! Toes To Go is a all about bringing salon services to individuals within their home. This includes any homebound individuals or injured patients, however it is not limited to that. I have received interest from wedding and prom groups as well! Please share your thoughts.

First Blog

I created this blog for my Social Media class. This is a salon service that is provided within individuals homes. I got the idea of a nails on the go service when my grandmother was home bound during the last months of her life. People can be homebound for many reasons and although unable to leave, they still need a little pick me up. In addition, this service could be very useful during events such as wedding or proms where a large number of individuals need nail service. I think providing this service within the comfort and convenience of people’s home give it a competitive advantage over the in salon service. I will be using this blog to develop my skills on social media as well as marketing. Be sure to stay current with my posts as I will be uploading some promotions as well!
